The death of Shamsul Alam Khan Milon is considered a great sacrifice in the anti-dictatorship movement. At the time of his death, he was the then Joint Secretary-General of secretary of the Bangladesh Medical Association, a physician by profession, and a teacher at the Dhaka Medical College.
During the anti-dictatorship movement on November 27, 1990, Dr. Shamsul Alam Khan Milon was shot dead by terrorists backed by the then-Ershad government. In commemoration of this tragic event, Martyr Dr Milon Day every year since 1991 is being celebrated.Dr Milon's sacrifice has a new impetus to the then anti-authoritarian movement. And within a few weeks, the autocracy Ershad government fell.

Dr. Milon was born on 21 August 1957 in Dhaka. He joined the medical profession in 1983 after passing the MBBS degree. In his memory, the Bangladesh Postal Department issued a postage stamp worth Tk.2. A memorial named "Nijhum" has been erected in the southeast corner of the Dhaka University Library and a hall for the students of Dhaka Medical College has been named 'Dr. Milon Hall 'and the intern doctors' hostel were named' Shaheed Dr. Milon Intern Hostel.
