The best educational institute in the Gazipur district is Bhawal Badre Alam Government College or Bhawal College. The college's founder was Mr. Badre Alam, and the first principal was Mr. KM Abdus Salam.
The first college, named "Bhawal College", was established in 1986 to spread higher education in the area through the dedicated efforts of the educationists of the Gazipur district. The college is located on the Dhaka-Tangail highway near the Gazipur crossroads, with an area of 20.38 acres (excluding playgrounds). A captivating environment is surrounded by various fruit and medicinal plants along the four banks of the 65 bighas Dighi. This huge lake carries memories of the Mughal period. It was declared as a government college in 1960.
